We have just started to explore the potential of the Boxall Profile to support children. As such, we are still working on how best this will be used for our children. We understand the power of this tool and are excited to use this, alongside our whole school approach to teaching and learning, to reduce barrier to learning and empower children.

The Boxall Profile® is a gentle, observational framework used by schools across the UK. It is a structured questionnaire completed by the teachers and support staff who know your child best.

Instead of checking academic levels like math or reading, it looks closely at two vital areas of emotional development:
  • Confidence & Relationships: How your child builds friendships, manages their feelings, and engages with the world around them.
  • Hidden Barriers: Any quiet worries, self-esteem struggles, or anxieties that might be making it hard for them to focus or enjoy their school day.

What does it mean if my child is assessed?
If your child’s teacher uses the Boxall Profile®, it is a very positive step. It means we are proactively investing in their happiness and working out how to make school a more comfortable place for them.
  • No stressful tests: Your child does not sit an exam or fill out any forms. The assessment is done entirely through everyday classroom observation.
  • Not a medical diagnosis: The profile does not give your child a medical label or a mental health diagnosis. It is purely an educational tool.
  • Focuses on strengths: The profile heavily highlights what your child is already great at, while pinpointing areas where they just need a helping hand.
  • Creates a custom plan: We use the insights to set small, achievable targets to boost their self-esteem, focus, and resilience.

Working Together with Families
We believe that you know your child best. We use the insights from the Boxall Profile® to guide positive, collaborative conversations with you. By sharing what works well at home and what works well in school, we can make sure your child receives consistent care, encouragement, and support from all the adults in their life.
